A new ILS partnership between EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) and Slovakia’s SVOP will provide access to EBSCO Discovery Service’s™ (EDS) unified index for mutual customers. The partnership will further expand the quality and amount of content available for SVOP users while adding the enhanced features and functionality available from EDS.
Based in Slovakia, SVOP Ltd. has been focusing on information technology since 1996. SVOP’s library information system, DAWINCI services customers in Slovakia as well as in Czech Republic and assists with their needs in education and research. Partnering with EBSCO will enable SVOP customers to integrate critical components of EDS into their library solution.
SVOP Technical Director, Ján Grman sees the partnership as a great benefit to customers. “Our partnership with EBSCO extends the possibilities for both of our end-users and customers in accessing huge collections of the best databases from around the world. It is also an opportunity for us to offer mutual technology solutions to our local market.”
EBSCO’s continuing effort to improve accessibility and usability for customers by expanding the integration of services, improves discovery and delivery of content.
EBSCO Discovery Service is quickly becoming the discovery selection for many libraries (www.ebscohost.com/discovery/eds-news), and an obvious partner for content providers. Because the service builds on the foundation provided by the EBSCOhost® platform, libraries gain a full user experience for discovering their collections/OPAC—which is not typical in the discovery space. Further still, in the many universities and other libraries where EBSCOhost is the most-used platform for premium research, users are not asked to change their pathways or habits for searching. There’s simply more to discover on the familiar EBSCOhost platform, and the same can be said for library administrators who can leverage their previous work with EBSCOadmin™.
