ConTech 2021 will be taking place on the 16th & 17th November as a hybrid event, both in person and virtually. We are excited to be opening our call for speakers with the option of submitting based on either being onsite or online.

The information industry faces stark choices in order to stay relevant in markets that are being disrupted by rapid technological and business model changes. In an industry that was already grappling with these the global pandemic has accelerated the pace of this change.

The London Book Fair 2021 will go ahead as a digital only event, creating opportunities for the publishing industry to meet online, following the impact of the global pandemic. The in-person format will return next year to its usual Spring dates of April 5-7 2022.

CCC principal consultant Ian Synge will ask “How can publishers use knowledge graphs to overcome their data management challenges?” He will explore how knowledge graphs can solve pressing challenges such as discovering emerging topics, recruiting authors, detecting possible conflicts of interest, performing competitive research and building a long-term network.

Publishers can now register for the 73rd Frankfurter Buchmesse (20–24 October 2021). Dedicated to the topic “re:connect”, this year’s book fair is planned as an in-person event with additional digital formats, and can be flexibly adapted to pandemic-related developments.

The ConTech.Live webinars is a series of industry-focused events and we are excited to re-launch these in 2021 with our first session partnering with our long-time supporter Copyright Clearance Center. CCC Principal Consultant Ian Synge will look to answer one of the key questions facing publishers today, that is how do they optimise the use of their data assets.

The conference was attended by researchers, university managers, and publishing professionals from all over the world. It was one of the largest events for authors with 20,000 registrations worldwide.

Streamlined structures at Frankfurter Buchmesse / Planning for 2021 book fair has begun / Feedback from more than 200 customers has been evaluated. The restructuring announced by Frankfurter Buchmesse in November has been completed: corporate structures have been streamlined and the announced reduction in headcount has largely been concluded.

The first ever fully online ConTech Week 2020 conference took place in November. The sessions were filled with inspirational and exciting speakers offering ground-breaking insights, discoveries, revelations and technological advances.
