Maverick Publishing Specialists Ltd., are delighted to announce that one of their most Senior US-based Associates, Rebecca Rinehart, has agreed to become the new Head of US Operations for the Company.
Since joining Maverick in 2018, initially as a Senior Affiliate Partner, Rebecca has been increasingly influential in developing numerous client relationships – as well as coordinating or delivering a series of high-profile projects and assignments in both the US and Internationally – in areas such as publishing strategy; publisher partner choice; workflow analysis and improvement planning; digital platform analysis and selection; Open Access/Plan S; competitive landscape assessment; and many more. She is also a recognised Society and Association expert within the Maverick Senior Associate roster.
In her new role, Rebecca will not only continue to undertake assignments and client development within the region (and Internationally) as before, but also work closely with Maverick’s President, Martin Marlow, as well as other key US-based Maverick Associates such as George Farina, the Company’s Head of US Business Development, to further develop Maverick’s profile and presence within the region, alongside conceptualising and expanding Maverick’s range of strategic consultancy and outsourced support services for their growing US and LATAM client base.
Rebecca is a publishing professional who has over 40 years of experience in all aspects of scientific, technical, and medical publishing including books, journals, periodicals, and online.
Before Maverick, Rebecca was formerly the Publisher of American Psychiatric Publishing, a division of the American Psychiatric Association, and the world’s leading publisher of books, journals, periodicals, and online resources on psychiatry, mental health, and behavioural science. In this position, she managed acquisitions and new product development, peer review, marketing, editorial, production, rights, and distribution for print and online products, most notably the international publication of the Diagnostic and Statistic Manual of Psychiatric Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5).
Previous positions also include Senior Director and Publisher at The Endocrine Society (overseeing the publication of its four scientific journals, three periodicals, books and CME programs, and Endocrine News);
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, where she developed a publishing program of books, periodicals, and consumer literature that included the journal, Obstetrics & Gynecology; and an early career at Harper & Row Publishers, where she held various production, editorial, and management positions before serving as Senior Medical Editor for acquisitions.
Martin Marlow, President of Maverick Publishing Specialists, commented,
“Working as I have with Rebecca over the last couple of years, I have been immensely impressed with her expertise and knowledge, as well as her dedication to her customers and the assignments she undertakes for them. I have had nothing but praise from all those who have worked with her – both from the clients and colleagues alike. Rebecca has also been instrumental in developing and/or executing a number of our more recent marketing and brand build initiatives in the region, as well as becoming an increasingly recognisable Maverick “name” within the Industry. For me, as I look to construct the next stage of Maverick’s company growth, this was a natural choice, and I am delighted Rebecca has agreed to take on the role.”
Rebecca added
“Working with Martin and the global network of over 200 Maverick associates provides valuable insight into the industry and the expertise they represent. I am thrilled to be working with Maverick in this capacity and to be able to share that talent with our publishing clients in the US.”
