Aries Systems Corporation, a leading technology workflow solutions supplier to the scholarly publishing community, is pleased to announce a partnership with Aptara Incorporated, a developer of innovative digital solutions for content creation and enhancement.
In response to the increase in open access (OA) publishing and business models, Aries and Aptara have collaborated to create an efficient end-to-end solution for Authors and publishers. The agreement enables Aptara’s SciPris to be integrated within Editorial Manager®, Aries’ manuscript submission and peer review tracking system, for automated calculation and collection of fees from Authors, funding agencies, and institutions.
SciPris streamlines the processing of open access, publishing, color figure, and reprint charges directly within the editorial and production workflows. Due to automatic communications between the systems, authors can seamlessly process payments through the SciPris portal without ever having to leave the Editorial Manager system or disrupting their workflow. Publishers also benefit from this flexible solution through customized reporting, frequent alerts, and tailored configuration options to align with their journal/business policies.
Aries Director of Sales Jake Kelleher stated, “We are thrilled to be integrating Editorial Manager and SciPris so that APCs can be managed efficiently within the Author’s existing workflow. It’s great for the publishing industry when vendors who share many mutual customers work collaboratively to benefit all constituents including authors, funders and institutions.”
Aptara President Samir Kakar said, “We are excited to be partnering with Aries for the upstream integration of the OA collections process at the peer review stage. This will help streamline the entire publishing process with faster time-to-market of the funded research content.”
Aries plans to incorporate SciPris into Editorial Manager for release in 2020.
