Aptara has partnered with SAGE Publishing to provide an integrated SAGE-branded online platform to collect open access (OA) Creative Commons licenses and article processing charges.
Aptara’s SciPris platform automates the calculation of various publishing charges using customer-specific business rules, provides a user-friendly payment gateway, and gives publishers insight through alerts and custom reports. Being able to adapt to each publisher’s unique workflows, peer review and production systems and collection categories is critical, especially in this fast-changing OA landscape.
SAGE Publishing Vice President & CTO John Shaw said, “Partnering with Aptara will result in a platform to help us improve the experience of the scholarly publishing process for our authors and their funding institutions by supporting our existing OA Prepaid Accounts and ensuring funder license compliance, among other features. We chose Aptara because they were able to provide a customizable, agile, and cost-effective solution for our needs.”
“At Aptara, we’re focused on new technology-led solutions, from Machine Learning and AI within the content lifecycle to meeting custom publisher needs with SciPris,” said Samir Kakar, President of Aptara. “We are delighted to be partnering with SAGE, a global publisher with experience in a broad range of disciplines, to compete in a complex and fast-moving OA landscape.”
