Universitas Gadjah Madah Press and Yayasan Pustaka Obor Indonesia are both set to announce co-publishing agreements with Springer Nature at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2015. Springer Nature will publish the English-language editions of a selection of titles from each publisher’s list.
Covering traditional culture, ethnography, Islamic law, modern conflicts, the sociological impact of urbanization and forestry, the selection of titles represent important Indonesian issues of global interest.
The new co-publishing agreement will be officially announced at this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair on 15 October by Dr. Muhammad Agung Bramantya, Head of UGM Press; Dr. Heinz Weinheimer, Managing Director, Springer Research Group at Springer Nature; and Kartini Nurdin, CEO of Yayasan Pustaka Obor Indonesia.
Muhammad Agung Bramantya said, “The cooperation between UGM Press and Springer Nature will help enhance the international understanding of Indonesian scholars. Working together can also create dialogue and collaboration between international and Indonesian academics.”
Kartini Nurdin added, “Through this alliance we are especially pleased to bring the work of our authors to the wide audience that Springer eBooks have on SpringerLink.”
“Scholarly research and output is burgeoning in Indonesia. Springer Nature is delighted to partner with leading Indonesian academic publishers to share the insights and concerns of Indonesian scholars with the global academic community. We are confident that these are the first steps in a long and fruitful collaboration,” said Heinz Weinheimer.
