John Wiley & Sons, Inc., today announced the launch of Nursing Open as part of the Wiley Open Access publishing program. The journal is one of the first open access journals to span the entire breadth of the nursing field.
Nursing Open provides authors with a new platform for the rapid dissemination of research and scholarship on all aspects of nursing and midwifery practice, research, education and policy. The journal publishes articles that contribute to the art and science of nursing and which have a positive impact on health either locally, nationally, regionally or globally.
Nursing Open is the latest addition to Wiley’s portfolio of nursing journals and will benefit from relationships with many titles including the Journal of Advanced Nursing (IF 1.527), the Journal of Clinical Nursing (IF 1.316), the Journal of Nursing Management (IF 1.454) and International Nursing Review (IF 0.939).
“Nursing Open offers those who contribute to this vitally important field a new outlet for their research and scholarship, while also recognizing the growing importance of open access journals in the dissemination of high quality research information,” said Philip Carpenter, Vice President & Managing Director, Research Communications, Wiley.
“Nursing Open aims to provide integrity and speed in publishing a wide range of high quality nursing scholarship and, within a short time, to be the preferred destination for open access articles in nursing.” said Professor Roger Watson, Nursing Open Editor.
Professor Watson is based at the University of Hull and has been appointed Editor alongside a growing list of editorial board members. Working in care of older people, he has a special interest in the feeding and nutritional problems of patients with dementia.
As well as his position as Editor of Nursing Open, Professor Watson is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Advanced Nursing, and he has a strong interest in encouraging and coaching nurses in publishing, reviewing and editing.
